A Joint Norovian Religious View (Prof Plum)

This is a joint statement from the religious groups representing Christians, Jewish and Muslim communities.

Having researched extensively into the area of stem cell usage in medical research the joint religious groups agreed on the following:

1. Embryonic Cell Usage:  the usage of these cells shall not be permitted under any circumstances or situations.

2. Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Usage:  usage only for the owner of the cell or cells, or suitable relatives, should permission have        been granted at embryonic stage by parents.

3. Adult Stem Cell Usage: permitted if consensual.

4. Invitro Fertilisation: The religious groups agree with the treatment but number of embryos to be limited to 2 and used only in cases where natural conception can’t happen.

Signed,

The Joint Norovian Religious Group

A new Norovia deserves a new modern approach to life and how it is improved with longevity increased…we all want to live forever don’t we??…stem cells may provide the answer. Can we afford to turn our collective backs on this new exciting technology? Does religion have a place in Science??

Do we risk the “Slippery Slope?”

Embryonic stem cell research can help humanity in a number of ways: find cure for chronic diseases, help people who have had limbs severed in an accident. All of this is good and beneficial to society.

But who provides the guarantee that limits will be kept, morality will be safeguarded, humanity will be protected? Who will protect society from going down the slippery slope where stem cells can be used for personal interests in a money making industry?

All quiet on the Science Front

Despite the up coming Citizens’ Trial Scientists have so far yet to comment on their news and views to the Norovian public at large, insisting on working on a presentation instead of letting YOU know how they intend to help YOU. Are they all about the preserving their comfy, cosy jobs!!??
